A consuming passion. Maker of dangerously drinkable red wines, a lusciously dry Rosé and a fantastically moreish Albarino. These are soft, approachable and food-friendly wines made with passion.

We began as a passionate producer of Merlot blended with a small proportion of Cabernet Franc, but over time added Syrah and more recently Albarino to our range. There are two levels – Basket Press (our Reserve level wines), and what we call our Easy Drinking wines. The top reds are hand plunged in small open vats and spend 9 to 18 months in oak barrels depending on variety and vintage. Our Albarino and Rosé are cool fermented in stainless steel to retain freshness and aromatics. The Basket Press wines will comfortably cellar for a decade or more, but all of the wines have our hallmark drinkability from an early age.

Redmetal Vineyards began in 1991 with the planting of a north facing 8 hectare block of prime viticultural land in the Bridge Pa Triangle sub-region of Hawkes Bay.
This is a part of New Zealand renowned for it’s agricultural excellence. The vineyard is on the old bed of the Ngaruroro River with free-draining river gravels (locally known as red metals) being the crucial factor in making high quality wine.

The mission of the Bridge Pa Triangle Wine District Association is to promote the world-class image of the Bridge Pa vineyards, wineries and wines from this unique part of Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. To create awareness and demand for Bridge Pa wine and its producers through innovative marketing and education; support viticulture and enology research.
